I know some hold that Kent has always been a loyal servant to King Lear due to King Lear’s inspiration of loyalty. However, given the behavior of the other characters and the events of the play so far, I contend that Kent simply doesn’t know what’s best. #laylit19

@amiraalit_ @cindyliulit Having also seen “Much Ado About Nothing” I believe Shakespeare has a tendency to like conflicts that stem from misunderstandings. In King Lear, Edmund uses misunderstandings very purposely, and in other plays they occur often at the center of conflict #laylit19
@brookeaplit I found Hamlets plot to be more engaging than King Lear’s plot, especially given the analysis of Hamlets mental state. Still, I have high hopes for what King Lear will develop into, especially given how unique its characters are #laylit19
@cindyliulit Despite the fact that Cordelia is the most likable and the other two seem somewhat the same at the moment, Goneril is definitely my favorite soley because I think her name sounds funny enough to justify it. #laylit19
@LitMeghan So far, the Fool has been very blunt and honest to Lear. Since Lear has had no one to challenge him as King, I think the Fool will be able to tell Lear what he needs to hear under the disguise of comedy. He will probably show that Lear is more of a "Fool" than he is. #laylit19
@LitMeghan It actually makes me slightly sad, now that I think about it. This person spent three years pouring his heart into this one poem, yet we as highschoolers only glance at it for some fifteen minutes and jot down a brief analysis. "An Introduction to Poetry" at its finest. #laylit19

It was cool realizing that this guy who spoke to all of us actually wrote these poems, that this author was an actual real, physical person who exists. Hearing and seeing Pardlo speaking about his poems really made it more real, more human for me. #laylit19
@LitMeghan I think cutting your writing down to the essentials is difficult to do. It really forces you to focus on what exactly the reader needs (and doesn't need) to read in order to understand your message. #laylit19
@amandaschimmel1 True- it’s a really fresh way to step out of conventions. Unfortunately though I feel like translating poems from one language to another ruins the original meaning because some styles are very specific to the original language. (Terza Rima scheme in Italian, for ex) #laylit19

@gracelit1 I think no matter what, there will be certain basic themes that will be used forever. However, the constant changing style of writing is something that can affect a persons interpretation of the theme #laylit19
When Pardlo stated that he spent three years writing his poem Double Dutch I was absolutely stunned and appreciated his work so much more. From five pages to a page of stanzas....wow #laylit19
while reading “Rolling Thunder” by Pardlo, my group noticed that the words seem to mimic a roller coaster ride, going from the peaceful uphill part to the thrill of the of fall #laylit19
