Take every subject seriously- Biochemistry, Pharmacology & community medicine might be dry, but trust me- they will be immensely helpful in ur career. 2. Hv a pocket note book, where u can jot down important points frm ur teachers. 3. Use long note books for each important topic, where u can write concise, precise notes of the knowledge u hv acquired in the day, before u sleep. Write neatly. Thank me later. 4. Pts r our greatest teachers. Spend most of ur time listening to & examining them. 5. Attend every CME possible. These hv spinoff benefits. 6. Develop lateral thinking. Just as a Chess Grandmaster recognizes a pattern, & knows he is winning, learn to connect the dots to see the larger picture. 7. The eye does not see what the mind does not know. Read. Read. Read. 8. Repetition & frequent revision r the secret to a good memory. 9. Maintain cordial relationship with ur faculty & even clerks. U never know who wd be helpful in passing ur exam. 10. Learn catherization, stuck Foley removal, ICD insertion, emergency tracheostomy, endotracheal intubation, Ryle's tube insertion during ur internship. 11. Basic ECG interpretation must be known to every dr. Your career in medicine will hv it's highs & lows, successes & comprehensive defeats, joys & sorrow, good& bad days. Learn to savour, not necessarily enjoy every moment. Win, draw or lose- be assertive, u can then hold ur head high.
