Last year, with your support, we sponsored 83 incarcerated persons to sit for WAEC and NECO exams. This year, we’re aiming higher. Our goal is to support 150 incarcerated persons.
Lack of education is a major driver of incarceration. Many people behind bars have little to no basic education, leaving them vulnerable, unable to fully understand their rights and the law, or build productive lives. By providing education, we give them the tools to reintegrate successfully and to break the cycle of recidivism, and this will help create a safer, better society.

Last year, thanks to your incredible support, our #LearningBehindBars campaign sponsored over 80 Justice-Impacted Individuals in Kuje and Suleja Correctional Facilities to sit for their WAEC and NECO exams.
We are proud to report that they did exceptionally well, with a Pass Rate of 98.4% (NECO), and 72.2% (WAEC).
These results prove that many people behind bars are eager to be rehabilitated and contribute meaningfully to society, if only they’re given the opportunity. Your support made that possible.

In the long run, we are calling on The Nigerian Government, The Ministry of Education and all stakeholders in the Educational Sector, as well as Private sector Stakeholders to help facilitate Exam Waivers for Indigent Persons behind bars.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who donated to #LearningBehindBars. Thanks to your support, 2.5 million Naira was raised and 63 Incarcerated Persons will write the WAEC and NECO exams, thus reducing their chances of reoffending.

Thanks to your contributions, we were able to raise the sum of N2,500,000, which we've handed over to @CorrectionsNg. 63 incarcerated individuals who passed the Mock examinations are being registered for WAEC and NECO examinations.

A majority of incarcerated people in Nigeria live in poverty, and wish to change their circumstances but feel powerless to do so. This is why the #LearningBehindBars campaign is so important. By providing education, we can give them the power to fend for themselves and become useful to society.
Though unjustly imprisoned for 8 years, Micheal Lucky yearned to become a productive member of society. @hopebehindbar helped him regain his freedom, and now he earns a living as a farmer in Edo state.
