My India Study Tour and NG-CARES Alignment
My participation in the India Study Tour provided first-hand exposure to large-scale, results-driven programs that closely align with the four NG-CARES Result Areas. Through direct engagement with senior government officials, development institutions, and field-level implementers, I gained practical insights into how India delivers social protection, supports livelihoods, and strengthens public institutions at scale.
Under Result Area 1, interactions around MGNREGA, DAY-NRLM, DDU-GKY, and visits to SPNIWCD deepened my understanding of shock-responsive safety nets, gender-sensitive programming, and skills-based inclusion models relevant to NG-CARES social protection objectives.
For Result Area 2, field visits to SIRD Haryana, the Karnal Dairy Institute, rural communities, and watershed projects in Rajasthan offered concrete lessons on food security, climate-resilient agriculture, and sustainable water management that can strengthen NG-CARES interventions supporting smallholder farmers.
In relation to Result Area 3, engagements with NSIC and entrepreneurship institutions highlighted effective MSME financing, enterprise support, and job-creation mechanisms critical to Nigeria’s economic recovery under NG-CARES.
Under Result Area 4, sessions on Jan Dhan Yojana, NABARD, Jal Jeevan Mission, and disaster management institutions strengthened my appreciation of digital financial inclusion, coordinated development financing, institutional resilience, and results-based governance systems essential for effective NG-CARES delivery.
Overall, the study tour enhanced my capacity to contribute meaningfully to NG-CARES implementation by translating global best practices into Nigeria-specific, scalable, and accountable solutions.

DAY 1 of the 4-day retreat organized by the @HouseNGR Committee on Industry, @nassnigeria and facilitated by the Africa Parliamentary Resource Center(APRC) is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s automotive sector through improved collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.
The retreat, taking place from 26th to 30th October, 2025, at Pinnacle Castle Hotel, Asaba, is bringing together lawmakers, policy experts, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the theme:
“Building a Globally Competitive Automotive Sector in Nigeria through Effective Executive–Legislative Partnership.”
The discussions are offering practical insights and renewed commitment to advancing policies that will drive sustainable growth in Nigeria’s automotive industry.

Yesterday, I participated in the Public Accounts Committee meeting with some Power Distribution Companies (DISCOs), where we discussed issues surrounding accountability, service delivery, and financial transparency in the power sector.
I also received, in my office, delegation of council leaders from Katsina State who were on a working visit to the National Assembly. The engagement provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on strengthening local governance and public financial management.
In addition, I held a strategic meeting with my deputy on the House Committee on NG-CARES to review implementation progress and ensure the initiative continues to impact communities positively across the country.

As part of the @nassnigeria Committee on Industry’s ongoing oversight functions, I participated in a strategic visit to major manufacturing hubs in Lagos State, including the GAC Motors Assembly Plant, SIMBA Assembly Plant, and BAJAJ Manufacturing Facility.
The visit provided firsthand insight into the level of industrial innovation, local content development, and employment generation taking place within Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
Through these engagements, we reaffirmed our commitment to supporting policies that enhance industrial growth, attract investment, and strengthen the “Made in Nigeria” vision.

I joined Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), at the @TETFundNg Town Hall Meeting organized by the Board.
The meeting convened key stakeholders, academics, and members of the public to discuss the impact and interventions of TETFUND in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
Earlier today, I also attended the plenary session of the @nassnigeria where we deliberated on several critical national issues.

Yesterday, I participated in a two-day Legislative Roundtable on Interfaith Dialogue organized by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS).
The objective of the event was to deepen parliamentary understanding of global best practices in interfaith dialogue and hate speech prevention, while also building a lasting network between the House Committees on Inter-Religious Affairs, Human Rights, Digital Economy, and Security, alongside faith-based organizations and international partners.
During the interactive session, I made my position clear, as a representative of a constituency affected by persistent insecurity that I do not support a solely non-kinetic (dialogue-based) approach in addressing security challenges. This strategy has been employed in Zamfara, Katsina, and Niger States, but has consistently failed to produce lasting results. At best, it offers only a temporary peace.
I cited the example of the Maitatsine crisis during the Shagari administration, where the Nigerian government decisively quelled the violent group using kinetic means.
My position is that the federal government must demonstrate strength and authority; insurgents and bandits should be compelled to seek dialogue from a position of weakness, not the government approaching them out of perceived vulnerability.

Earlier today, I had the honor of engaging in a meaningful interactive session with the 33 State Coordinators of @NGCARESofficial and the General Managers of Community and Social Development Agencies (CSDAs) from across the country.
During the session, I reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the National Assembly to the success and sustainability of the NG-CARES program. I emphasized the importance of collaboration and accountability in achieving the program’s objectives, particularly in improving the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
The National Assembly remains a strong partner in ensuring transparency, oversight, and policy support for the effective delivery of social protection and community development interventions under the NG-CARES initiative.

Earlier today, I chaird a high-level tripartite meeting involving the Chairman (myself), Deputy Chairman, and the National Coordinator of @NGCARESofficial as part of the preparatory process for the upcoming NG-CARES 2.0 rollout.
The meeting focused on aligning strategic priorities, reviewing lessons from the first phase, and strengthening coordination mechanisms to ensure more effective delivery of interventions under NG-CARES 2.0. Stakeholder engagement, transparency, and improved community impact were key themes of the discussions.

I am delighted to participate in the delegation organized for an oversight visit to the Lagos Free Zone, Dangote Refinery, and Lekki Deep Sea Port, conducted by the House Committee on Public Account. The purpose of the visit is to evaluate the level of operational compliance of these key economic hubs with Nigeria's regulatory frameworks.
As crucial contributors to the nation's economic landscape, it is imperative to ensure their operations are aligned with established laws, financial obligations, and best practices.
Additionally, the oversight aims to assess their economic impact in terms of job creation, infrastructure development, and contributions to national revenue, as well as their relationship with host communities. We firmly believe that development must be inclusive and that communities must benefit positively from investments in their environment.
We acknowledge the progress made thus far and anticipate candid engagement as we seek answers, data, and assurances. Our findings will inform legislative decisions designed to strengthen public and private institutions and promote sustainable national development.
