The three Iranian Islands #AbuMusa, #GreaterTunb, and #LesserTunb in #PersianGulf belonged to Iran for thousands of years, and will do so for ever!!!

The History of the Three Islands: Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb
Once again, a dispute has arisen between the #UAE and #Iran over the sovereignty of the three islands: #AbuMusa, #GreaterTunb, and #LesserTunb. Let’s explore the historical roots of this issue and determine whether these islands belong to Iran or the UAE.
Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb are three small but strategically significant islands in the #PersianGulf. Due to the suitable depth of the waters between Abu Musa and the Tunbs, this is the only navigable route for large oil tankers.
Additionally, Abu Musa is the southernmost island of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz and holds special military and defensive importance for Iran. The island also serves as one of Iran’s oil export centers.
Together with the Tunbs, Abu Musa plays a crucial strategic role, ensuring Iran’s control over a significant portion of the southern waters of the Persian Gulf and, most importantly, Iran’s dominance over the Strait of Hormuz.
Before the advent of Islam, the three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, along with all other islands in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, belonged to Iran. Throughout the Achaemenid, Parthian, and Sassanian eras, these islands were part of the Iranian domain. After the Islamic period, these islands remained under full Iranian control. However, in the early 20th century, as part of its colonial ambitions to control international waters, Britain occupied these islands. Nevertheless, on paper, these islands were still considered part of Iranian territory, but in practice, Britain illegally controlled them.
In 1971, an agreement was made between Iran and Britain for the withdrawal of British military forces from these islands. According to this agreement, the British forces left, and the Iranian imperial army took control of the islands.
However, as part of Britain’s long-standing strategy to maintain regional conflict, the agreement stipulated that a post in the southern part of Abu Musa be controlled by the sheikhdom of Sharjah.
A few months after this agreement, the British also withdrew from the southern territories of the Persian Gulf. The scattered sheikhdoms in the region, such as Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, united to form a new country: the United Arab Emirates.
Britain’s strategy to keep tensions in the Persian Gulf succeeded. In 1992, the UAE, contrary to the 1971 agreement, laid claims of sovereignty over these three islands. This claim was political in nature, aimed at removing Iran’s control over maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf.
In summary, these three islands have belonged to Iran for thousands of years. In the late 20th century, Britain, as part of its colonial policy, illegally occupied them. In 1971, after Iran’s diplomatic efforts, the British military withdrew from the islands under the 1971 agreement, and Iranian forces took control. At that time, the UAE had not yet been established, making the UAE’s claim to ownership of islands that have been part of Iran for 2,500 years entirely baseless.

The forcible, unprovoked #occupation of #GreaterTunb, #LesserTunb and #AbuMusa islands persists under the #IRI and its #IRGC, despite agreements with the then #TrucialStates #emirates of #RasAlKhaimah and #Sharjah.
They were illegally annexed by #PahlaviIran, on the afternoon of 29 Nov. and 30 Nov. 1971, hours before the #UAE formally came into existence as a #sovereign, #dejure, #defacto state on 2 Dec. 1971, in violation of #Article33 of the #UNCharter: #Iran steadfastly refuses to entertain any negotiation, much less discussion of the matter, by couching its claims as Iran irredenta. The same fatuous reasoning that went towards claims over #Bahrain, a British protectorate, which became independent in Aug. 1971. #MiddleEastHistory

In a reaction to a joint statement from several #Arabcountries and #Russia about #Iran’s three #PersianGulf islands, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said the three Persian Gulf islands of #AbuMusa, the #GreaterTunb and the #LesserTunb are an integral part of Iran.https://t.co/JgEXaOca0m

The #UAE’s #Minister of State for International Cooperation #ReemAlHashimy has recently renewed her country’s claim that #Iran should end the “occupation” of the islands of the #GreaterTunb, the #LesserTunb, and #AbuMusa.https://t.co/DkOonHKCRA

🎥🇬🇧During my latest interview with @iranintltv regarding The Third Japan-Arab Political Dialogue I mentioned that Iran’s right regarding the Islands of #AbuMusa, #GreaterTunb, and #LesserTunb in the #PersianGulf is not negotiable.
Because of #IslamicRepublic ‘s lack of legitimacy within the country and a serious lack of diplomacy in their foreign affairs after #China and #Russia, now #Japan is undermining #Iran ‘s rights and Iranian territorial integrity which is a direct consequence of the pseudo-politics of the Ayatollah’s regime, which is not acceptable.
The future #MidlleEast will be Iranian-Israeli-Arabic but such peace and prosperity can only occur when state-sponsored terror is eradicated.
The Ayatollah’s regime in Iran has been trying to threaten people with the phantom of #CivilWar whilst its consequences are not any less.
