Russia is buying up real estate near military bases in Europe, reports The Telegraph.
European intelligence agencies say individuals linked to Moscow are purchasing houses, warehouses, land plots, and even islands near military facilities and critical infrastructure. These include areas close to airbases, naval ports, submarine cable routes, and energy sites.
According to sources, some of these properties could be used for surveillance or as potential sabotage sites in the event of a crisis. It is possible that equipment has already been installed at some locations.
Examples cited by intelligence services include:
▫️ An island in Finland equipped with piers, a helipad, and surveillance systems;
▫️ Property near F-35 bases and naval facilities in Norway;
▫️ Real estate linked to the Russian Orthodox Church near strategic sites in Scandinavia;
▫️ Suspicious acquisitions near British and Mediterranean military assets.
European capitals believe this may be part of a broader hybrid strategy and preparation for possible operations.
