Dr. Perry encourages to always keep in mind the following when selecting/using children's books re: enslavement (and everything): 1. developmentally appropriate 2. historically accurate 3. culturally authentic #litislib2018

One of the workshops was "African American Literature for Black Boys: PreK-12" by Dr. @TchKimPossible" She reminded us to always remember Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop as the creator of the terms "windows", "mirrors" and "sliding glass door" in kid lit + representation. #litislib2018
