Don't hide from the mushrooms. 🍄 We're not here to hide ourselves from the world, for then our only point in being here would be to hide ourselves from the world, and what kind of meaning is that? 😳 Get out there, be you, live your life, and if people don't like you, that's their issue. Don't allow your fear of judgment to stop you from living. Hiding yourself out of fear of judgment is limiting your learning. Vulnerability allows you to show others who you are and TO BE who you are.🙏❤️ It's how you become "self-aware" because you learn about yourself through the process. How are you going to know how you will react to something if you limit your interactions? Experiencing how you interact and react is learning about who you are. You will find that you can grow, learn, and change by being yourself around others. Think of all the people we come in contact with as if they are all teachers. We learn many lessons from them about our likes and dislikes. Sometimes, they're wrong about us. So what? We can show them differently. And sometimes they may be right about us, and we can learn something about ourselves that we didn't know. It's all good. You can't know if you really like or dislike something unless you experience it in some way. Hiding from it doesn't put you in a place of learning about it or FROM it. I remember when one of my second graders said he HATED eating mushrooms. 🍄 I asked him, "Have you ever eaten a mushroom before?" His response was, "No, never!" I asked, "Then how do you know you don't like them?" He said, "I don't like how they look." Then one day he came to school all excited, and announced "Ms. McCance, I ate a mushroom, and I loved it!" Hiding from mushrooms isn't going to help you learn whether or not you like them. 🍄 I know that people can be judgmental, critical, and opinionated. We all have that potential within us as part of our human nature. We're even that way with ourselves. But we should never allow it to stop us from showing people who we are. The greatest learning comes from the ability to understand the difference between opinion and truth. You will never learn the truth unless you reflect on what you're seeing and hearing and face it for what it is. Being vulnerable puts us in a place of learning. It takes courage at first to put yourself out there, but eventually, you learn to reflect and decide what is worthy of your time to consider and what is not. I have learned that, for me, the meaning of life is to learn. I will discover if I like mushrooms by tasting them. If I don't like them, then I'll avoid them. If I do like them, then I'll enjoy them.
