#COP30 amplifies calls to close the $365 billion gap 📢
As GCA’s #LocallyLedAdaptation Lead Anju Sharma puts it, "As the adaptation finance gap grows wider, the willingness of countries to support the climate-vulnerable seems to be diminishing. It is a moral imperative for the global community not only to provide adaptation finance, but to do so in a way that ensures it reaches those most in need"

This week at #COP30 we launched Stories of Resilience 2025, showcasing #LocallyLedAdaptation in action. From Kibaale District in Uganda to communities worldwide, the message is clear: adaptation succeeds when power and finance shift to those on the frontlines.
In Ringiti, Kenya, I met Dolrose Adhiambo, who earns a living selling smoked fish from Lake Victoria. Her livelihood is under threat from pollution, overfishing, and climate impacts. Her name reflects her story. Dolrose, meaning “rose,” symbolizes her resilience and courage in shaping her community's People’s Adaptation Plan. Adhiambo, meaning “born in the evening,” reminds us we are on the eve of an adaptation revolution.
Through GCA’s People’s Adaptation Plans, communities like hers are mapping risks, setting priorities, and driving real resilience. Grateful to all our partners who contributed to this vital report: https://t.co/HX4JmECx0h

@DPalmerFCDO, Director for Energy, Climate and Environment @FCDOGovUK, stressed that adaptation must be people-centered, genuinely inclusive, and therefore sustainable. She noted that the UK was among the first countries to endorse the principles of #LocallyLedAdaptation and emphasized the need to create incentives for resilience to be built at every level. She added that more adaptation solutions need to be delivered by local communities, women and girls, and Indigenous peoples — and that the UK is proud to support GCA in advancing these initiatives.
🌱 Local leadership = lasting resilience.
