I think we need to reflect on how some expressions of political Christianity can unintentionally create division and push people away, particularly when support for candidates is based more on policy alignment or a shared Christian label than on character. In my opinion, the midterm results offer a moment for that reflection. Jesus dined with tax collectors and showed compassion to both Jews and Gentiles. His example reminds us that faith should be reflected in how we treat others, not simply in the labels we claim or the politics we support. We should be careful not to endorse people simply because they tick the “Christian” box. Look beyond the label. Pay attention to their character, values and how they treat people.
