ओबीसी आरक्षण और मण्डल कमिशन को लागू करवाने के संघर्ष में दलित समाज और दलित नेताओं ने बढ़ चढ़ कर भाग लिया था हालांकि वो जानते थे कि इससे उनका और उनके समाज का कोई विशेष लाभ नहीं होने वाला है उन्हें तो पहले से ही आरक्षण मिल रहा है।
सामाजिक न्याय के लिए दलित नेताओं और दलित समाज का यह निःस्वार्थ भाव से किया गया संघर्ष सदैव प्रेरणा श्रोत के रूप में याद रखा जायेगा।
मंडल कमीशन की आज भी बहुत सारी सिफारिशें लागू नही हो पाई है, उनके लागू हुए बिना ओबीसी वर्ग का विकास अधूरा है।
