Here's my reflections on one of the sessions at our #MBEquip2019 @cdnmbconf Study Conference last week. "Why be afraid of the Spirit?" https://t.co/taIAzyswLl Thanks to @Wessner & Doug H of @mbseminary for an excellent model & engaging us in both conversation & praxis

"Together, Mark Wessner and Doug Heidebrecht explained to us that #interpretation is done through recognizing the authority of #Scripture, the guidance of the #Spirit, and discernment in #community." https://t.co/iWx2WALpAC
Why spend 2.5 days with a bunch of strangers? A church member who attended reflects on doing #communityhermeneutics with the MB family from across Canada. #MBEquip2019

#MBEquip2019 is over, but the reflecting isn't. Check back at the blog for more reflections -- and add your own thoughts in the comments field.

Quite the view from Ancaster, Ontario. It's nice to be outside after several full days at the Equip Conference.

For those who are more into quiet, unrushed reflection than in-the-moment Q and A, head over to the blog to read others' reflections and add your own in an ongoing conversation on #MBEquip2019

High point for me at #MBEquip2019:
@janessa_allison’s baby crawling into my lap mid-session, resting there content, then offering me his soother. It was - and I mean this in the fullest possible sense of the word - sacramental.
An hour ago and still shook.
Finished #MBEquip2019 with communion. In our brokenness there's still beauty. For all we get wrong & the things by God's grace that we get right, I'm grateful to be part of a family like @cdnmbconf
"The biggest enemy of theological generosity is not inaccuracy but FEAR." Bad / wrong hermeneutics or conclusions have a short theological shelf life when we trust the Spirt and each other - Ingrid Reichard #MBEquip2019
"God shapes us personally as well as denominationally. If we are not clear on our identity, we will be unclear about our unique contribution to what God is doing in the world in history and today." - Ingrid Reichard #MBEquip2019 @cdnmbconf
“If there’s anything that the church should critique in culture, it’s the rise of new utopias.” - Dr Pierre Gilbert.
Interesting. Both the right and the left implicitly say, ”Our doctrine will redefine society and it’ll be perfect.” The reality is far more complex.

"The hermeneutical process must result in a prophetic discourse." Pierre Gilbert #MBEquip2019
When we choose to play identity politics, we "we are embracing a new and more viral form of tribalism” - Pierre Gilbert @mbseminary #MBEquip2019
"If there is anything that the church that should critique in contemporary culture, it is the rise of new utopias” Pierre Gillbert @mbseminary #MBEquip2019
And here I thought that the big hotel door-prize at #MBEquip2019 might go to the person who tweeted the most using the official event hashtag :)
Can we use this community hermeneutic thing to get Doug Heidebrecht to keep going a little longer? He's making this conference for me right now.
#mbequip2019
Doug Heidebrecht is killing it so well at #mbequip2019 at I'm conflicted between my commitment to a community hermeneutic and my commitment to peacemaking
