Today in Maputo started the 2nd meeting of the @SADC_News #MCSCC Task Force. “The Task Force is here to ensure that operations of the MCSCC are implemented ” said SADC fisheries advisor Motseki Hlatshwayo, recalling how far SADC has already come in terms of MCS.

We are now at the heart of regional cooperation to combat #IUUfishing: the #MCSCC in Maputo. With the MCSCC Charter in force, priority is now on building the capacity of the MCSCC team to fulfil their role : coordinating cooperation for the protection of the region’s fisheries.

Only two weeks ago, we showed #Namibia MCS officers tools to support risk assessments of #fishing vessels − and they are already following up! Today, with @Starboard_NZ & the SADC #MCSCC, we looked at how to effectively do searches, tag vessels & analyze tracks. #SADCAtlantic
