The largest recruit class in #MDFR history was sworn-in as probationary firefighters on Friday morning at the #MDFRClass150 graduation ceremony. 53 firefighters received their silver badges, marking the end of formal training that began last June.

On Tuesday morning, #MDFRClass150 broke up into squads to pay a visit to a different fire stations. Squad 4, pictured here, arrived bright and early at #Station54 in Bunche Park, took a tour of the station, performed morning duties & had breakfast with the oncoming shift.
A nice ocean breeze & the mellow sound of the waves is what #MDFRClass150 experienced on Friday when they made the trip to Haulover Beach for a morning beach run. This type of run helps develops foot & ankle muscles firefighters often rely on while working on the fireground.
Sometimes the only means of escape from a structure fire is a ladder that firefighters carry on their trucks. On Thursday, #MDFRClass150 practiced different scenarios with an array of ladders that will be available to them when they enter field service in the coming months.
On Wednesday, #MDFRClass150 took part in a forcible entry training. Choosing the right forcible entry tool & knowing how to use it safely are just some of the skills the recruits need to know before reporting for their first shift next February. #MDFRTraining
On Tuesday, the 54 members of #MDFRClass150 participated in a blackout drill, which trains firefighters on how to search a structure during a fire in smoke conditions with no visibility.
#MDFRClass150 got a taste of live fire this week at the @MDCollege of Fire Science. The recruits are in the process of completing their Florida minimum standards training before returning to the #MDFR Fire Rescue Training Center in October to carry out their instruction.
