In the other hand, over 130 cores of Quercus suber and other tree species were collectec together with soil, DNA samples and population structure data for #MEADCLIM project in three impressive mountain ranges: High Atlas, Middle Atlas and Rif.

After finishing the setting up of #OUTevolution experiment we head out last population of Q. suber only to take the population structure using the Matias' #LIDAR as a last action into #MEADCLIM project.

The #MOROCCOFIELDTRIP2022 has finished. It's been an intense but very fruitful week. We sampled some cork oak populations over its southern distribution range for the #MEADCLIM project, collecting over 130 tree cores, but also many other samples 👇

So this morning we headed the Q. suber to sample the last population of this trip for #MEADCLIM. We found different populations of Cork oak, but in most of them the trees were very young stressed due to the population density. The forests look much like a Mediterranean shrubland

FIFTH DAY: we continue with the #MOROCCOFIELDTRIP2022. Yesterday we drove a long way from Ifrane to Chaouen. We took a national road as the city is not conected yet to highway network. The region is very interested as surrounded by Quercus suber forest for #MEADCLIM sampling.

We sampled tree cores as part of the #MEADCLIM project to determine how these tress responded to past extreme climatic events, expected to be more frequent under a changing climate.
