@AbbyElizibeth @SnigdaNarisetty A6: I found an inexpensive way to get lots of magazine subscriptions in the classroom. I buy them from elementary students for their fundraising. So, an annual subscription to Time is only $10. #MIPAchat

@SnigdaNarisetty @queenof207 A6: Pinterest the best! I created a whole board for page designs and all sorts of ideas for the Blade. But make sure to plan ahead for those designs, they can get a bit difficult. Also, we keep a book called the Newspaper Designer’s Handbook in class, super helpful. #MIPAchat

@queenof207 A6: Don’t have much to ask, this was fun. Is anyone going to the MIPA design workshop next week Friday? I know all the junior editors on the Blade will be. #MIPAchat

A5: We call this a budget. @snigdaNarisetty calls it a deck. Either way, it's 🔥. #MIPAchat

@queenof207 A5: assignments are only given when we have to, the staff chooses what they want to write. They are tracked through editing, we can see where they are at when their pieces when they are being edited. Work is not divided very well. I tend to take on way to much. #MIPAchat

@queenof207 A5: We just switched up our workflow to a new organization system where briefs are turned in every week and actual stories are turned in every other week. It’s still difficult to keep up with, especially because of the snow days. #MIPAchat

A3: Love the Hot Seat idea. Strong! I hear you all saying that personal connections improve motivation. People just want acceptance. Once they have it, they will commit. #MIPAchat

@queenof207 A3: Last Friday we played hide and seek and sometimes we play Pictionary. We also play Hot Seat, where we interview new staffers to practice our interviewing skills but also get to know them. This helps improve the climate of our class, motivating reporters. :) #MIPAchat

@queenof207 @CalebBerko A3: CE has two classrooms next door to each other, so that was the limit. ;) I did end up hiding in absolute darkness in the photo room, pretty terrifying. #MIPAchat

@CalebBerko @CohortMipa @queenof207 Yes! Caleb and the other editors on the Bucs’ Blade and I have talked about this. Reporters love having a say in what they write, and that also motivates them to write. This also boosts content! When reporters are writing what they love, it makes the content exciting. #MIPAchat
