We have been learning about Anne Frank & the tragedies of the holocaust.We’ve discussed discrimination,tolerance,equality,the value & positives of diversity. #MMY6 had very mature & thoughtful conversations. We wrote letters to Anne with our thoughts & questions #MMY6 #MMHistory
Today WWII hit #MMY6. The air raid siren sounded and we had to take shelter within the rubble of our bombed village. We listened to real stories of Blitz survivors whilst we sheltered. We’re all now excited for our forthcoming learning about WWII in #MMhistory this half term

Year 4 have been investigating what people in Anglo-Saxon times eat by dissecting their poo (not really!) #MMHistory #MMYear4
Today, Year Three went on a local walk to investigate the industry in Meltham past and present. We also visited the Huddersfield and District Family History Society. We even managed to have some games of Pooh Sticks before we returned back to school!

#MMyear4 have been finding out about the pyramids, that they were tombs, how they were built &why. Did you know the Great Pyramid of Giza took 100000 people over 20 years to build?Did you know it has over 2.3 million limestone blocks?#MMhistory
#MMyear4 learning about Howard Carter & the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.We had to crawl into the tomb (otherwise known as the back room!)to find evidence (pictures of objects found in the tomb).We then pieced together the evidence to learn all about Tut #MMhistory
In history, we have been finding out about the cotton mill owned by the Brook family in Meltham. We created a job vacancy poster to try and show what Jonas Brook and Brothers Cotton Spinning Mill may have been able to offer their workers.

This morning we walked around Meltham, so we could begin to compare what work and industry in the village is like now with what it was like in the past. We visited the Meltham Family History Society and even had time for a quick game of Pooh Sticks!

In history we have been looking at Roman mosaics. We learnt how they were made traditionally and then in art we had a go at using more modern techniques (art program on the IPads and printing) to make our own versions. #MMYear3 #MMart #MMhistory
We have been studying Boudicca’s rebellion in history. We did some performance work and a few children were able to dress up as Boudicca and some were her Celtic followers. They were a pretty fearsome bunch!
