Our next #MMRChat with Season 6 instructor is back!
On next session, we’ll have Dr Elizabeth Creamer @EGCreamer to share her thoughts and insight on the ‘mixed’ in MMR! (1/2)

The session was awesome! If you missed it, you can check the #MMRChat for all the sharing and discussion of the topic!
Thanks so much Dr @drsarahmunce for the practical advices! 🥰🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻
We are live! It’s time for the #MMRchat about mixed methods research (MMR) in the health sciences. Thank you so much to @MMIRA_MOOC for arranging and supporting this. Before I post the question 1, let’s review some logistics - how do you respond, follow, and tag during the chat?
This #MMRchat was the second in a series featuring @MMIRA_MOOC module instructors. In the current season, I have a module on MMR in health sciences research. The MOOC is free to MMIRA members. Learn more about: https://t.co/wIyWlgDj9u
We have @MMIRA_MOOC Season 6 available to enrol starting today!
✅ Modules delivered by MMIRA experts.
✅ FREE access to all @MMIRAssociation members.

Thank you everyone for the amazing discussion today during our #MMRchat! It was wonderful to have the opportunity to connect about MMR in health sciences/services research. I loved seeing your memes and gifs! (If you missed the chat, check the hashtag!)
#MMRchat A6: I love seeing all the wonderful and creative examples of joint displays in our field and I think this is a growing area in MMR – highlighting not only areas of convergence but also divergence.
#MMRchat Q6 – As we wrap up our sessions today, what areas in MMR in health sciences/services research do we need to focus on the future? Perhaps these could be topics included in a future @MMIRAssociation workshop @MMIRA_MOOC
#MMRchat A5: The use of figures/diagrams can be very helpful for describing your specific points of integration.
#MMRchat A5: With respect to MMR proposals, investigators need to adopt MMR terminology and use MMR specific study designs. Further, investigators should consider including a MMR expert on their grant proposals (and not someone with individual expertise in quan and qual methods).
#MMRchat A5: As researcher, when I am looking to publish the results of my MMR studies, I have specifically sought out MMR journals e.g., JMMR or IJMRA or medical/health services journals that are open to publishing MMR results with more flexible word counts.
@drsarahmunce @MMIRA_MOOC #MMRchat A4: One of the biggest challenges I've faced is that many of the things I need people to talk about are "taboo." No one wants to admit that they let a concussed student-athlete participate, but without these discussions, we can't make the "right" decision easier.
#MMRchat A4: As a reviewer of MMR in the health sciences/health services field, one of the biggest gaps I observe is investigators who characterize their studies as MMR, but do not elucidate the areas of integration. A lack of proper terminology is another gap I commonly observe.
#MMRchat A4: As a researcher, one challenge relates to the practical challenge of trying to publish the results of a MMR project but having journals in the medical/health services field with limited word counts.
#MMRchat Q4 – What are some of the challenges you face in conducting MMR in this context? See mine below @MMIRA_MOOC
@drsarahmunce @MMIRA_MOOC I just received internal funding to explore a pilot study regarding the transition out of sport due to career-ending injury (aka forced retirement). Finishing up a different study now about stakeholders' expectations of each other for concussion education & management. #MMRchat
#MMRchat A3: My program of research relates to developing, implementing, and evaluating complex health interventions often to promote transitions in health care.
#MMRchat Q3 – What MMR in health science/services research studies are you working on or planning now? @MMIRA_MOOC
@PShannonBaker @jarlogan @poWOMENer Love this! It's so true. Being a part of @MMIRA_MOOC has really opened my eyes to how #MixedMethods can be applied in so many different ways. #MMRchat helps to connect us all too!
#MMRchat A2: I took my first MMR course @OISEUofT in Curriculum, Teaching, & Learning with Dr. Eunice Jang as part of my PhD program. At the time, there was no MMR course specific to the health services research. I’ve been fortunate to take MMR workshops via @MMIRAssociation
