In November we took 2 x 10m samples from our local #coast . 6m of #erosion in parts. Such a different record, not dissimilar to other eroded #beaches Survey 1. 206 : Survey2. 320 pieces of #PlasticPollution #Polystyrene &foams 1.171/206 2. 260/320! @ScotIslandsFed @NatureScot

What can be more uplifting than a blaze of colour as far as the eye can see. The #Machair on #NorthUist is simply phenomenal at the moment; a floral rainbow, not to mention a pleasure on the nostrils too. Who needs the fynbos, Western Aus or California!? #WildFlowerHour

#Machair is a special type of landscape in which shell sand has been blown inland. It provides a rich mosaic of land use and habitats, especially noted for wildflowers. We were a bit early for the annual display, but here's bird's foot trefoil. South Uist Benbecula & Barra here.
