This tool is called “Magic Arm”.
A #magicarm is a versatile and adjustable mounting tool commonly used on film sets. It typically consists of a series of articulated joints that can be locked into place using a single knob or lever. The Magic Arm can hold various pieces of equipment, such as lights, cameras, monitors, or other accessories, in a precise position. In here for #vrfilmmaking we need to shoot the camera out so the tripod and windows are not in frame.
Here are some key features and uses of a Magic Arm:
➡️1. Adjustability: The articulated joints allow for a wide range of motion and positioning, making it easy to adjust the equipment to the desired angle or height.
➡️2. Locking Mechanism: A single central locking mechanism can secure all the joints simultaneously, ensuring the equipment remains steady and in place.

This one is travel friendly. Lighter and cheaper than the traditional Manfrotto but can carry almost the same weight with really good built quality. It’s a hidden gem that I get asked by every lighting grip onset. But really, any magic arm work. Bring it with you on EVERY film set!
