@emmabridges @LittleATheatre @SlavicekTinka @BeingHumanFest This is possibly my favourite. The snakes cheering up Medusa who feels a bit lonely 🥰🐍🐍🐍 #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @LittleATheatre @SlavicekTinka @BeingHumanFest We had tons of fun making a big Medusa puppet all together, but we also had a quieter space for those who preferred to go at a different pace. It was wonderful to see children engaging so freely with ancient myth in their drawings (also featuring pizza😂) #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @BeingHumanFest Emma and I have clearly developed a snake addiction in the process of #MakingMedusa :-D
In response to @emmabridges‘s request for depictions of Medusa, here are a few of mine. #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @SlavicekTinka Making is powerful. You just made something that didn't exist before. A monster half gorilla and half bunny? There, you can make it. A hat of knitted snakes? You can make that too. Matching outfit for you dog? Why not? #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @SlavicekTinka Making is great for understanding. There may be no better ways to learn about an ancient object than trying to re-make it digitally. What was its shape, and why? What's the relationship between the parts? What I should build first? Why are the surfaces different? #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @SlavicekTinka Making is satisfactory. How cool is being asked where did you buy something and reply "I made it"? Digital makers feel the same. If you can't touch a 3D model or a piece of digital art that doesn't mean that its maker is not incredibly proud! https://t.co/pbLY9EUsTo #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @SlavicekTinka Making it's relaxing, and it's rewarding as solo or group activity. I enjoy making things in company, even if everyone works on their own project. Conversation flows, and while you pass the scissors or the glue, you usually become friends #MakingMedusa
@emmabridges @SlavicekTinka Making is a creative exercise that brings me joy and fulfillment. I have never identified so much with a cartoon character as with little Emily in Toy Story 4 who, when in distress, finds solace in making herself a toy! #MakingMedusa
Thread: And now, after so many fabulous posts on Medusa... let's talk about Making! Why do @emmabridges, @SlavicekTinka and I invite you to make stuff in our #MakingMedusa event, this Sunday?
@emmabridges @BeingHumanFest Not really a depiction of Medusa, but one of my favourite words in French (or any language, really!): "Méduser", meaning to stupefy, to petrify. Do you know of equivalents in other languages? I think I'm gonna start using "to meduse" and "to be medused" ;-) #MakingMedusa
Our beloved Medusa is a favourite in digital art too! Just stumbled on this sweet animated demo @nvidia released in 2008 to show off their performance. You can still run it on your PC, but you can also check it out at https://t.co/sAyK0g72fH #MakingMedusa @emmabridges @lizgloyn
@VeraCausa9 @TheRomanSoc Useful inspiration for the Being Human Festival's #MakingMedusa workshop in London on Sun 17 Nov! https://t.co/hFCqRFnJai #BeingHuman2019
Calling all Greek-myth-and-monster-loving-kids! For this year’s #BeingHuman2019 Festival, the Institute of Classical Studies is hosting a free session 11am-3.30pm Sun 17 Nov to make a massive Medusa! More info about #MakingMedusa here: https://t.co/hFCqRFnJai #BeingHuman2019
