My son woke up this morning, looked at me and said, “Mommy, this is why it’s good to be home.” I laughed and asked, “Why?” He said, “Because I don’t have to think about what I’m going to eat. You do that for me.” That statement made me smile, but it also got me thinking. When he’s in school, he wakes up thinking about what he’ll eat, what he can cook, what ingredients he has, and how to put everything together. Nobody tells you that adulthood is waking up and realizing there’s no one to ask, “What are we eating today?” You are now the one deciding. You are the one buying the food, paying the bills, making the plans, solving the problems and figuring things out... even when you have no idea what you’re doing. So yes, we all want to grow up. But sometimes, when we finally do, we look back and realize that the little things we once took for granted were actually some of life’s biggest comforts. Like having a mother who simply says: “Don’t worry, I’ve got you. Food is ready.” Maybe that’s what home really is... a place where, for a little while, adulthood can wait.

I just concluded a dialogue with some genuinely serious-minded individuals on a pressing issue, and I can tell you for free that, from what we discussed, a significant number of women today are not necessarily marrying the men they truly love, but rather the men who are ready, available, and willing to commit. This is largely because the person they genuinely love is either unavailable, unwilling to commit, or simply not in their lives at that point in time. In some cases, this ultimately leads to extramarital affairs with the person they genuinely love, because although they have married someone else, their emotional attachment remains with the person they truly wanted.
