The late #ManfredEigen received the #NobelPrize in #Chemistry in 1967. In 1971, he initiated the foundation of our predecessor institute, the MPI for Biophysical Chemistry. And today, he would have turned 95.

#ManfredEigen was an ingenious scientist and outstanding personality. He left us a great legacy: Many of his visions have become reality, one of them is the #mpi_bpc. He will live on with our institute.


#inmemoriam: Tomorrow, our institute will host a symposium in honor of our institute’s founder and #NobelLaureate #ManfredEigen. Speakers: Herbert Jäckle and Erwin Neher of #mpi_bpc, Eigen’s close colleague Peter Schuster of #univienna, and #MaxPlanck president Martin Stratmann.
