Amazing thread! And not only are respirator masks good for avoiding the low but catastrophic risk of long covid, they are amazing for avoiding the common cold, wildfire smoke, measles, allergens, and for protecting others. Respirators work! #MaskTogetherColorado

Meanwhile, CDPHE is silent about the this concern. They've tweeted the word "flu" ONCE since May last year. (same on FB)
They issued no warning about the early flu season as a new subvariant of Flu A spread rapidly in December, and No warning about the high toll on kids.
There will likely be a bad wildfire season. It's time to stock up on N95 respirators to keep your lungs safe, for the whole family, which also may be going out of stock soon due to supply chain issues.

We just eclipsed that week by a full 34% (and the data for last week remains incomplete)!

COVID has some rising indicators, but remains relatively low. RSV has begun rising.
Flu is the BIG story. Hospitalizations are now very HIGH, positivity & ED Visits are up, the first pediatric death in the state has been recorded.
⚠️Colorado has lost a large portion of its funding for its vaccine program, timed with a potentially rough flu season. Doctors say to get your flu shots if you haven't already, and are able to.

Shave a bit for a better fit! 🪒😷👍
Even a short beard can make an N95 or KN95 significantly less protective. Shaving in the areas where the mask touches your face is an easy fix!

Fit testing showed that stapling the chin, along with converting to head straps and shaping the nose wire, improved this wearer's fit factor (a measure of effectiveness) in this KN95 by a factor of 10!
