I see this as a measurement problem. We can’t effectively intervene on attendance behavior we haven’t clearly defined and measured. Missing 20 full days, arriving 90 minutes late every morning, and consistently skipping one class are all attendance concerns—but reflect very different contingencies. Better measurement can help us identify those patterns, ask why they’re occurring, and match intervention accordingly.
