Moreover, Chicago needs to #MemorializeChiReparations because it was promised in the Reparations legislation passed in 2015. Five years later and with a new mayor, we have still yet to obtain the unequivocal support needed to make the memorial a reality.

It has been 5 years since the Reparations legislation was passed, but one of its key components—the memorial—has yet to be built. Rahm Emmanuel did not commit funds to be built before he left office and Lori Lightfoot has yet to follow through.
