Nathan Berman, the managing principal and founder of #MetroLoft, which is the developer for the apartment conversion, said that he expected the problems that emerged on Tuesday to stall construction for a few weeks.
He said that two columns near the northwest corner of the tower bent under the weight of additions to the building above, possibly because they had not been sufficiently reinforced.
The rest of the columns, he said, “picked up the weight.”
