Thinking back to the Night Owl Trail Marathon from 2023, as I prepare to race it again next month.
Taking a rest and recovery day today with thoughts on how to improve in the race this time around.
And that's how I apply today's #MettleMonday.

Sending all the positive vibes and mustering #mettleMonday positivity for the #Yankees!
Let’s go get it, guys!

Saturday's race fits into #MedalMonday and #mettlemonday.
I signed up for the 45K, missed a turn, retraced my steps to finish the 15-miler though I actually ran almost exactly the 45K, just not the way the course was laid out.
Live, learn and eat @HoneyStinger bars.

Pretty easy to find some #MondayMotivaton outside my hotel window in Montana this morning.
Wish I had time to play in the mountains this trip.

Yesterday my car was totaled in a hit and run. Thank God I wasn’t in the car. Despite the crazy morning, I still conquered 14 miles for my marathon training.
Fueled with @HoneyStinger

On this #MettleMonday, I'm thinking of my amazing athletes who are crushing their training, races and lives.
I often get questions about nutrition and always encourage using carbs wisely, specifically @honeystinger waffles. Love seeing them use and succeed with #HoneyStinger too.
Sometimes we all need to summon a little extra motivation to get through a Monday afternoon, especially after a holiday weekend.
A @HoneyStinger carb boost and thinking about some cool experiences with @AmericanLegion did it for me.
Onward.

Love this #FathersDay gift from my son who made it with his 3D printer.
Not sure if it qualifies as a Kettle Moraine #medalmonday or if the mettle summoned to finish gets a #mettlemonday
In any case, it’s a pretty slick and unique keepsake.

This recent haul from @HoneyStinger will serve as my #mondaymotivation as I get ever closer to next race day.
Needed a rest day today but getting my #mettlemonday revved up for a solid run in the morning.

Solid weekend of running, followed by a recovery walk this morning.
Keep showing up.
Focus on the week ahead.
Find joy.

A different kind of #mettlemonday. Needed a boost to motivate myself to get out and mow the lawn.
#HoneyStinger waffle to the rescue.

This past week was a big build, 50+ running miles and 40+ on the bike. Today is a day to recover and reset, and enjoy a @HoneyStinger bar and delicious smoothie.
And that's how I #MettleMonday.

Keep showing up every day.
Even on rest and recovery days.
Showing up today meant an easy recovery ride.
And of course a boost of carbs via @HoneyStinger waffle.

A rare afternoon bike ride to get the legs moving. Couple of long days of work and travel, but a relaxing recovery ride and nice boost of carbs via @HoneyStinger waffle helps the reset.

As a masters athlete, I appreciate rest and recovery days. It's tempting to push oneself and go hard every day.
But that doesn't bode well.
Recovery requires patience, dedication and a different kind of mettle. And carbs, thanks to @honeystinger

It's been a challenging year for my races.
April marathon. Halted midway through due to severe weather.
July 100-miler. Stopped at 50 miles due to weather.
In two weeks, I'll run 100 miles.
Training done. Body ready. Mind set. Let's go!

This #bluemonday we asked #ChatGPT to write us a poem about the benefits and struggles of small businesses and sole traders.
We think it’s pretty spot on when it comes to running your own #business.
What have you done today to turn #bluemonday into a #mettlemonday?
Today’s #MedalMonday/#MettleMonday post is from yesterday’s SPMS Short Course Meters Championships! The IM relay team I was in ended up getting 3rd. Coach had me do 100m butterfly and deemed me Swimmer of the Day for stepping up to fly 🤩 @HoneyStinger #HoneyStingerAmbassador
Rained, windy, darkness, heavy meal…everything going against me, but still got a run in. Glad I did… #HoneyStinger #HoneyStingerAmbassador #MettleMonday #running
