I think they genuinely believe what they say they believe: that people are just people, completely interchangeable with each other, and any difference of importance is cultural rather than genetic, and can be modified by the education system as needed. Insofar as a culture and a society has a distinctive character that will be lost when the peoples of the world are shuffled into it randomly, they look upon this like they do historic architecture: quaint, perhaps even attractive in some ways, but ultimately it’s better to replace it with glass and steel structures of the universal modern style.
