For those of you new to following me for #FantasyBaseball - I started doing #MikeVANotes📝 when I first got into creating content. I got a lot of good feed back on them and it's stuck ever since!

His SL — his best put-away pitch — has a ton of movement, & increased usage of the pitch could help his K totals

His avg 4SFB velocity has been up over his last few starts & today, he threw 9 CU after throwing just 11 over his first 34 IP

• Nelson Cruz is 22-for-63 (.349) with 2 HR since May 6th & he’s on a 6-game hit streak
A high GB% was holding him back in April, but he’s been hitting more FB/LD in May & the hits have been falling
He’s an easy pickup if he’s available in your league

• Tyler Anderson hurled 8 innings without allowing an ER for the 4th time in his career @ WSH:

His CH has been his best (49.5% whiff) & most-used pitch to begin the year, & through 43 2/3 IP, he has a 3.30 ERA

• Facing a RHH-heavy lineup in TOR, Hunter Greene threw just his 4SFB & SL on Saturday:
6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K (33% whiff, 30% CSW)
He’s given up 2 ER over his last 2 starts (13 1/3 IP), but his 4SFB has been getting hit hard to begin his MLB career

• With today’s 5 IP, 4 H, 5 K effort (15% whiff, 32% CSW), Tarik Skubal extended his scoreless streak to 19 2/3 IP
His 4SFB command looked better during ST & those improvements have seemingly carried into the regular season

He’s been swinging in the zone more while chasing less & he’s flourishing at the dish

• Sandy Alcántara made his SL his most used pitch in Aug-Sept 2021, but he’s back to using his 4SFB/SI the most through 6 starts (35 2/3 IP) & his K% is average again
Unless his SL’s usage rate increases, it’ll be hard for him to rediscover his late-2021 form

3 of his 4 hits had an EV > 100.4 mph & he’s 11-for-29 with 2 SB (82nd percentile sprint speed) through 13 games

His approach against breaking & off-speed pitches has been abysmal, & until he gets that ironed out, he’ll be a below-average fantasy option

His 4SFB had a career-high 35.6% whiff coming into today, & increased spin & velocity on his 4SFB could be fueling his early success
