NEW VIDEO: Media Week (Video 5) 5 mins A micro-aggression from @willie_rennie floored me. I have it on record Lib Dems were delighted when I took a job as 3rd sector CEO. They thought I'd have to stay silent. Willie didn't know that my chair was supportive of my whistleblowing.

Applaud the #Upstander willing to speak up! But were there missed opportunities for other #bystanders to be #Upstanders? Were there subtle ways in the meeting for #bystanders to deflect away from or disarm the #microaggressor? #MicroaggressionsinMedicine #BlackWomeninMedicine

Thx @DrLindaMD! Your response shows an important #microintervention strategy for #bystanders who witness #microaggression: educate, rather than confront, the #microaggressor. Most microaggressions are unconscious. Context matters. #PWchat #Microaggression #Bystander #Upstander

@Dagmar__Gross @divadocsbos @DrJRMarcelin @physicianswkly I would have probably made a statement like the med. student in question is probably so tired from staying studying for the boards to even notice the floor. Something neutral yet draws attention to the bias without judgement. Really depends on many factors though.
