The vocalism of the Celtic forms (#OldIrish irar, #MiddleIrish ilar, #Welsh eryr, #MiddleBreton erer, er, #OldCornish er) is difficult to reconcile with the other words. To be sure, Welsh eryr, Breton erer could go back to *oriro- with i-umlaut (cf. *omiyo- > W. efydd ‘copper’).
In addition, the root is responsible for a multitude of fish names: #OldEnglish forn, #OldHighGerman forhana, #German Forelle ‘trout’, #Greek πέρκη (pérkē) f. ‘perch’, #Latin porcus ‘catfish’, #MiddleIrish orc ‘salmon’.

… as well as cows: #Vedic pr̥śni- ‘speckled’ and as a substantive pr̥śni- f. ‘cow’ (and also the name of the mother of the #Maruts), #MiddleIrish erc ‘speckled, dark red’ (*perk̑-ó-) and as a substantive erc ‘a spotted or red-eared cow’.

You'll see this toward the beginning of the sentence above: it is the combination of the letter l with a suspension stroke.

You will notice how capitals were not used for proper nouns. They did exist, of course, but were used for the beginning of new sections & sometimes (but not always!) for new sentences.
