Plastic is made from fossil fuels. It’s contributing to global warming. Plastic recycling is a myth. <10% of plastic is successfully recycled even if labeled recyclable even if put it in a recycling bin. #RestrictPlasticProduction #MinimizePlasticConsumption #BanPlasticTurf

THIS is another reason why reducing our society’s obsession with plastic is better than prolonging it with the industry-promoted myth that recyclability = sustainability. #MinimizePlasticConsumption #PlasticRecyclingIsAMyth #SayNOtoPlasticGrass #BanPlasticTurf

“Our oceans are covered by ‘plastic smog’” A powerful analogy! Did you know artificial turf fields were cited by @EU_ECHA as the largest single source of #microplastics #pollution in the environment!? #RestrictPlasticProduction #MinimizePlasticConsumption #BanPlasticTurf

Most of the plastic we discard does not get recycled. This is not because we’re improperly sorting our waste. #PlasticRecyclingIsAMyth #RestrictPlasticProduction #MinimizePlasticConsumption #BanPlasticGrass

The problem isn’t individual consumers failing to take advantage of recycling programs or tossing takeout boxes into the wrong bins, the report makes clear. Rather many plastics that consumers think they are recycling never make it through a recycling process.

#PlasticRecyclingIsAMyth Solution: “move away from unnecessary consumption & living a throwaway lifestyle.” There is no ‘away’. Plastic is destined for litter, incineration, or landfill, all polluting air/food/water supplies. #MinimizePlasticConsumption
