We are less than 3 months from January 1 2027.
If you don't know, that's the deadline US sets for its defense contractors.
They will no longer be able to sell Pentagon rare earth magnets, tantalum, tungsten products that were either mined, refined, or separated in China, Russia, North Korea, including Iran.
This is even if the finished component itself completed its final manufacturing process elsewhere.
Personally, I don't think that's feasible at all but it's up for debate.
What I know for sure is they will pay premiums for non-China supplies.

Magnet production planned outside China will cover less than a fifth of magnet demand outside China by 2035, according to the IEA.
China's suspension of its expanded rare earth export controls is due to expire on November 10, 60 days from today.
Refining capacity outside China covers about a quarter of refining needs, and demand for magnet rare earths is projected to rise more than 30% by 2030.
Around $60 billion of investment would be needed over the next decade to diversify these supply chains, the agency said.

Some more very positive signaling from #MKA that matters are progressing well for $MKAR. The US DFC has already indicated that it's considering injecting a further $100m into the Songwe Hill rare earths project (mine construction is to commence next year) - so this site visit suggests that the DFC is very much serious about it.
Trading volumes have picked up nicely since the F-4 announcement last week, but at 44p there's still 73% upside to land at the NASDAQ listing price of 76p equivalent, for just the upstream assets.
Even at 76p, that'd still be pricing Mkango's three fully constructed and operational NdFeB magnet recycling plants in Europe at zero. And that's not to mention the stream of much larger US-based plants that are likely to come online, annually, starting in H1 next year... Nor the prospect of launching HyProMag plants in Asia and elsewhere in North America and Europe.
A huge few months ahead for MKA.
