Sadly in @CityofColumbia pedestrian safety typically comes in third on the priority list behind driver convenience and parking spaces. Cautiously optimistic that things can improve with our new mayor and fresh faces on council. Cola can be so much better. #MobileMidlands

Why we asked for this to be what the new Millwood Avenue bike lanes look like. Columbia drivers are too dangerous to leave them unprotected. Even our incoming mayor, @Rickenmann, said he didn’t feel safe riding there. #MobileMidlands
Here is a good example of how putting bike lanes above the curve protects people. Without that curb, the driver was more than happy to cut the corner and push me off the road. Instead they redirect into the travel lane after hitting the curb.
At the beginning of the pandemic BPAC asked @CityofColumbia to remove beg buttons; many other cities led by doing so. Instead we got new ones. Time, money, and energy wasted maintaining the status quo rather than moving the city forward. Let’s do better. #MobileMidlands
