I've known Lang Ping（郎平）for 20+ years, and catching up again with her today IRL inspired me to write this, and hope you get to know the team more. She was hall of fame, the best national volleyball team coach and the only head coach that has led both the US and China teams to olympic medals. Being the MVP herself and Olympics champion representing China as well. Years ago, I represented the national teams competing in 2 different sports internationally, training in the 3rd one. Captained the 2 teams that I competed with. It has given me tremendous exposure on the international landscape travelling to more than 20 countries and facing media at such a young age, but more importantly I've built up grit and resilience by enduring and overcoming pain. Despite hitting the top 1-2 rank in the entire league, I was not selected for the national All Star team for political reasons. I was beaten down by the head coach and the organisation back then during the trail training phase and got assigned ridiculous more fitness tasks than others to push me out, and I got isolated to train on my own. They wanted me to give up. The more resistance, the more it bounced. I have then never missed any trainings, failed to complete any fitness and technical training tasks, and achieving one of the best records in the team. Man, I fell in love with proving people wrong. After months of battling, I was eventually appointed as the captain to lead the team internationally, bringing the team together, supporting each other, and our goal is clear - to win at all costs. Another thing I learned as well is as long as the common mission is clear, the best players would be happy to sit on the bench or do dirty work for different tactics facing different components. This can only happen when the team's mission is larger than anyone's ego. Moca is in the hands of this kinda team who loves proving people wrong, who takes care of you, clear on mission, and extremely resilient. The “team” here is us all together including the community. Stay true to the mission, nothing can shake us apart. At times, there will be lots of noise, but laser focused on the prize fam. Share the mission, sit on the bench when needed to make the team stronger. (Lang Ping has nothing to do with Moca)
