Thanks to @iamtimdavis for leading a deeply engaging discussion on AI infrastructure, the economics of training and inference, and the looming massive impact of open models.
Takeaway: Efficient open models can achieve 90% of frontier performance at 10% of the cost. Soon, most applications outside of science and cybersecurity won’t require frontier models, for the same reason you don't hire a physics PhD for customer support.

A great day at #ModCon2026 yesterday, where @dmatrix_AI Fellow and Distinguished Architect Satyam Srivastava joined Chris Lattner, Rashid Attar, and Kamran Khan on The Multi-Silicon Stack panel to discuss what it will take to build AI systems across an increasingly diverse compute landscape.
Abdul Dakkak of Modular also highlighted how the d-Matrix team integrated Mojo into our MLIR stack and had matrix multiplication running on Corsair™ within days.
