The forest is watched over by Bonbibi, the goddess they believe protects locals from the Sundarbans Tigers. As per myth During a ferocious battle, Bonbibi rescued a young child named Dukhi from the clutches of Dakkhin Rai, a demon God in the form of a Tiger. She then sent him home safely on the back of her pet crocodile. Tell me are they less religious? In the Mantra (Panchali) of Banbibi, they express their gratitude to the 180000 Peer-Paigambar. They also pray to Hari (The Hindu God) Jagannath & Taraknath(Mahadev). After the Puja, you may find them sharing the Prasad together in the Clip.
