Creating money out of thin always determines a loss in purchasing power
Reality:
1️⃣
The Fed more than doubles the monetary-base (106% ⬆️), purchasing power ROSE ≈0.10%
2️⃣
The Fed has a peak of monetary-base (154.7% ⬆️), purchasing power fell ≈2.4%
MoneyDemand is not fix, so not all money created gets spent, so not all money creation can cause a drop in purchasing power.
Printing money out of thin air always and everywhere determines a loss of purchasing power. Even in the case of the Swiss Franc. No need to retire excess fiat money by selling central bank assets if you don't use the printing press.

If you want to consider printing bank reserves as printing $ then you have to subdivide money printing into 2 categories
1. Increases base money/broad money (US 2020/21)
2. Increases base money (Japan)
There was a huge difference between these 2 outcomes from “money printing”
