Best #Webseries of 2025: The statue of limitations on year-end lists is yet to kick in, hence this post😄I often write about Indian shows I like;for a change let me talk about some shows I watched in 2025 which are not from India. Two of the shows were recommended to me by my husband,to give credit where it is due.The first is an #Australian @ABCNetwork television series called #FISK. The protagonist is someone who would probably be categorized as a "loser"in popular parlance,but is actually a hilarious,kind,funny,intelligent, middle-aged lawyer called Helen Tudor-Fisk. It's a heart-warming show about people and relationships,especially at the workplace. The last time I found that kind of comfort in a show was in @JerrySeinfeld's : "Comedians in cars getting coffee". That show was a dream,with every single element designed to make folk like me de-stress and relax:the guest comedian getting into a vintage car selected by Jerry to suit their personality,discussing their career highs and lows with Jerry,and finally getting a delicious coffee and some eats from a coffee shop or diner in their city or suburbs.What a sight for sore eyes.Soul-satisfying visuals of coffee and cars,with sounds of brewing of coffee and purring of the engine of the vintage car adding to one's cup of joy. Without giving away the story of Fisk let me assure you that it will definitely make you smile if not guffaw.Watching FISK is like watching a barista brew your favorite coffee&adding a dark chocolate heart on the foam top☕ The second show,also recommended by hubby dear, is #Mo. MO is short for MohdNajjar, an endearing #Palestinian refugee living in #Texas #America,whose life is a roller coaster ride.The show is witty and funny,and the treatment of daily crises that Mo fights,is light-hearted.The show is all soul and really funny. One of my favorite parts is where Mo's mother makes her special #oliveoil in her kitchen from scratch. It's one of the finest tributes to one's #culturalheritage that I have ever watched on screen in recent times.The family's long-awaited visit to Palestine makes for another exciting and engaging episode or two. The third show that I really enjoyed watching this year was #ThePaper.This show is the successor to one of my all time favorite shows : #TheOffice (US). Like its predecessor,this show is also a mockumentary,but the circumstances and characters have changed(the only continuity is Oscar the accountant).The Office was set in Dunder Mifflin,a company that sold paper.The Paper is also a company that sells paper,and their bestseller is Softies toilet paper.They have a small division that runs a tabloid called the #ToledoTruthTeller.A young and bright journalist Ned Sampson joins as Editor-in-Chief and tries to revive the tabloid and do some real "journalism".How he motivates his rag-tag army of journalists to write for a paper that has become largely irrelevant,makes for an exciting web series.There is also a potential love interest,and the two of these characters(Ned&Mare)may as well be the next Jim&Pam. I just can't wait to find out more in season two. And then of course there is #StrangerThings5. I waited to watch the final season with my son because he and I had watched,laughed and cried together while watching earlier seasons.I recall how both of us were really moved by #EDDIEMUNSON's ultimate sacrifice in #StrangersThings Season four,and thanks to my son I could learn to appreciate #metallica and their super hit song #MasterofPuppets fully after watching that spectacular climax scene. At the end of the grand finale,our favorite characters remain the same - Eleven,Eddie&Henderson and Hopper-freak/loser/maverick. The show reminds you that love always triumphs over hate. Goodness ultimately wins over evil,every single time.
