10 #poisons, each at 1/10th its lethal dose, still add up to one #lethal #dose. Judging every #pollutant only against its own standard misses the arithmetic of harm. Nobody breathes pollutants one at a time. We need a #multiPollutant #health #assessment.

New CSE analysis of 25 Indian cities shows ground-level ozone has become a widespread, multi-season air pollution challenge. ▶️ Delhi-NCR has emerged as the country's largest regional ozone hotspot. Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Patna are also among the severely affected cities. ▶️Ground-level ozone pollution not only prevalent in northern India; it is engulfing southern and coastal peninsular regions as well. Mumbai recorded one of the highest ozone peaks. ▶️CSE study warns of a silent, year-round health and climate crisis across major cities and demands adoption of multi-pollutant framework under the National Clean Air Programme to reduce all key gases from vehicles, industry, household fuels and waste and biomass burning to prevent ozone formation.
