Ce samedi 18 avril 2021, la coopérative #VASO de @Gitega a organisé une journée d’activités sur la colline #Mutobo. Entre récolte de maïs, visite des projets d’élevage et distribution de porcs, les membres ont évalué leurs progrès et préparé l’avenir.
Une récolte de maïs encourageante
Les activités ont commencé par la récolte du maïs dans un champ de plus de six hectares situé sur la colline Mutobo, en Commune et @Gitega. Les membres de la coopérative espèrent obtenir environ 18 tonnes de production. Cette récolte est considérée comme satisfaisante, et témoigne des efforts fournis par les membres dans leurs activités agricoles.

Selon Serges Nkurunziza, Président de la coopérative #VASO #Gitega, cette journée avait pour objectif de permettre à ces membres de voir le niveau de développement atteint. Elle a aussi servi à mieux préparer les activités de la prochaine saison culturale. Les échanges entre membres ont permis de partager des idées et de renforcer la collaboration.

On Tuesday, a US. Congressional delegation visited the #Mutobo #Demobilisation Centre, where former combatants who disengage from the #FDLR militia—based in the jungles of eastern DR Congo—are received, demobilised, and supported in their transition back to civilian life.
The delegation was received by RDRC Vice Chairperson Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Jacques Nziza, who briefed them on the RDRC reintegration model. Members of the delegation also heard testimonies from recent returnees who chose peace over violence, highlighting Rwanda’s commitment to security and stability in the Great Lakes region.”

Restoring agaciro: Mutobo Demobilization Center
Hakim Ali Bahati, a former FDLR corporal, described his arrival at @RDRC’s Mutobo Rehabilitation Center: "Instead of chopping my head off like I had been told, they treated us so well. I hadn’t been able to sleep in the bush, my head was too heavy with negativity. Now I have the peace to sleep."
Through pre-paid phone lines and radio broadcasts, the ex-combatants reach out to relatives still in the bush, becoming the voices they once needed. Many now help with repatriations, guiding new arrivals. Among the screening teams & within Mutobo are former FDLR members who help trace and welcome those still coming home.
