Happening Today | Kampala The Central Region Stakeholders’ Consultative Workshop on the National Animal Breeding Strategy and Action Plan (#NABSAP) is underway at Hotel Africana. Organized by @NAGRC_DB under @MAAIF_Uganda, and sponsored by @FAO, the workshop brings together farmers, breeders, policymakers, researchers, and development partners to co-create a breeding ecosystem that is inclusive, science-led, and climate-smart. Under the theme: “Transforming Uganda’s Animal Breeding through Science, Partnerships, and Sustainable Innovation,” the workshop explores: ✅ Aligning breeding with market and conservation goals ✅ Valuing indigenous knowledge and traditional breeding systems ✅ Strengthening institutional and regulatory frameworks ✅ Leveraging innovation and data ✅ Elevating aquaculture breeding as a national priority As we revisit the 1997 National Breeding Policy and Animal Breeding Act (2001), this dialogue sets the stage for reforming breeding systems to meet modern market, environmental, and genetic diversity challenges. Together, we are laying the foundation for a resilient livestock sector and a prosperous Uganda. #UgandaLivestock #AnimalBreeding #InnovationInBreeding #InclusiveAgriculture #AnimalGenetics #climatesmartagriculture @FrankTumwebazek @DrRwamiramaBK @PS_MAAIF @beinepeter
