Unbelievable, but true! 5 years ago, we had the last research flight during the international field experiment #NAWDEX. We spent almost 6 weeks at Keflavik, Iceland with many flights of the German #HALO and #Falcon20, the French Safire Falcon and the UK FAAM BAe-146.

Marc Rautenhaus @unihh shows how really cool visualisations of @ECMWF ensemble forecasts with Met3D were used for flight planning in #NAWDEX @DLR_en. Especially liked this brilliant spaghetti plot (good example of #sciart @ArnalLouise ?) #ObsCampaignWS

Dropsonde observations from a flight through a tropopause polar vortex (TPV). Obs provided from the #NAWDEX field campaign. Combining this special dataset with #MPAS via DA will help to evaluate sensitivity of downstream forecast predictability to Arctic based features.
