The National Drug Policy and Authority Act, Chapter 206 requires that authorization is obtained prior to the importation of any MEDICINE, FOOD SUPPLEMENTS or MEDICAL DEVICES into Uganda.

The stated amount covers the cost of collection and transportation of all expired drugs from 6619 government and private-not-for profit (PNFP) health facilities countrywide, plus the cost of incineration at an accredited facility.

There has been an accumulation of these expired drugs in health facilities because this mass exercise was last carried out 6 years ago.

It is a great thing to see @UNDAuthority engaging stakeholders. It is one authority that honestly does much work, but few great things are said about it. I believe at-least 98 per cent of the drugs on the market are safe. So we should be thankful as we push 4 more. #NDAatWORK
