Why waste the effort of review, rebuttal, discussion just to reject papers based on information that was available before the reviewers were even assigned??

If reviewers did not engage during Phase 2, will they engage during Phase 3?
And if they already engage during Phase 3 with the Area Chair, it would be more reasonable that they got engaged during Phase 2, while we are able to respond.

Even the AC hasnt responded to the official comments. Crazy to see how disengaged #NeurIPS this year is.
#NeurIPS should disclose the names of all ACs and reviewers, including mine, after the conference.
This would encourage reviewers to take their responsibilities more seriously next year

This indeed is a problem. I pointed out the same during #NeurIPS to the AC saying it doesn't make sense to review a paper with hallucinated references and I was told this didn't mean for you it meant for others.
This sucks
I remember flagging an ICLR 26 paper for hallucinations and it got accepted, because the hallucinations that I pointed out have been removed after my review

Idea for #NeurIPS reviews: you can only request a larger-scale experiment if youβve run something of comparable scale + cost in your own papers, or youβre willing to pay for the experiment.

I did not ruin my sleep schedule running tons of extra experiments and spending $$ on APIs only for the reviewers to ghost me.
We need either:
(1) Longer discussion period
(2) New incentive or accountability mechanisms for reviewers
(3) or reducing reviewer load
