Melissa Bailey is becoming one hell of a disappointment.
Melissa built a respectable following during her campaign because people believed she represented something different. Her momentum may have been slipping, but she still had voters who believed in her and supported her candidacy.
Then she dropped out and endorsed Anthony DiLorenzoโthe very candidate her grassroots base opposed.
And now look at this....๐คฃ
She isnโt simply saying, โI endorsed Anthony.โ Sheโs writing full-page advocacy pieces defending him and helping sell his candidacy to New Hampshire voters.
Money talks.
At some point, you have to ask what happened to the people who stood behind Melissa Bailey?
They didn't suddenly disappear when she ended her campaign.
They didn't automatically become DiLorenzo voters because she told them to.
Many supported Melissa precisely because they didn't want the establishment-backed, big-money candidate.
This is exactly why endorsements don't transfer votes like property. A candidate may decide where she goes after dropping out, but her supporters are free-thinking votersโnot a political inheritance she gets to hand over to somebody else.
Melissa had an opportunity to listen to the people who built her grassroots support. Instead, she appears to has used while convenient and left that base behind โ and is now actively campaigning for the candidate most to all of them rejected.
The question isn't where Melissa Bailey went. We know where she went. The question is where her voters went. Their principles didn't shift with her political aspirations.
They've funneled in behind @cole4nh and @HollieforNH!
No one is buying Melissa's bullshit any more. She picked her side, and that line is crystal clear.
New Hampshire deserves a HERO โnot a ZERO!
