Missed out on the ABQ storms today, but man the water levels at Abiquiu Lake today were exceptional! #nmwx #nmclimate @NWSAlbuquerque

Before the storms, we had a great meeting to discuss climate resilience with @adaptintl and others at the Round House. This was the 1st of several workshops to dev a state plan. #nmclimate

The past three El Niño Climate Pattern winter seasons difference from average precipitation. Eastern NM residents would most likely prefer the 2014-15 flavor (weak). The strong El Niño of 15-16' ended up a relative dud for the Southwest U.S. #nmwx #nmclimate #nmfire

New Mexico is experiencing the worst drought than any other state in the U.S.
99.26% of the state is in drought. Almost 85% of the state is in Extreme Drought. #NMClimate

It's going to be a hot summer, New Mexico. The official summer outlook is out. Good news is we may see an active monsoon across the southwestern part of the state. @krqe #NMwx #NMClimate

Experts saying the Rio Grande through Albuquerque could run dry this summer for the first time since 1983. Monsoon rain could again prevent this. #NMwx #NMClimate #NMWater
Marken told the MRGCD board she expects drying in the Albuquerque reach this summer, which would be the first time that has happened since 1983. #nmwater (4/n) (We expected this last year, got bailed out by decent summer rains.)
It was officially the 2nd driest and 11th hottest April on record for New Mexico. Southern, central, and eastern New Mexico all had the driest April on record. Some parts of New Mexico didn't record any precipitation last month. #NMClimate #NMwx #NMFire

January - May are our driest months of the year in Albuquerque. July usually brings much needed relief as the monsoon kicks into high gear. #NMwx #NMClimate

So far this April in Albuquerque, we've had the lowest average dew point in 11 years. It's also the 7th lowest in the past 74 years. This April's average dew point has been just 13.7º. Yeah, the air has been extremely dry.

#ClimateChange #NMClimate
Climate change is worsening wildfires across forests and lengthening wildfire seasons. One of the biggest increases is in the northern mountains here in New Mexico. 60 days have been added to the fire season since the 1970s.

If it makes you feel any better, April is climatologically our windiest month in Albuquerque.

Meteorological winter (Dec. '21-Feb. '22) was the 20th warmest on record for New Mexico. A colder than average Feb. dramatically brought down the anomaly. Not surprisingly with a double-dip La Niña, it was the 22nd driest winter on record.
