English-speaking Olims in Haifa: 3rd class citizenship?
Haifa does obviously not care about English-speaking Olims. If you are an English speaker and citizen of Israel you feel like a third-class citizen.
Haifa is said to be a pluralistic city. Many nations, many ethnicities, many groups, many religions, and many tourists.
Israel is on the brink of a massive attack. Haifa is going to warn its citizens by SMS. Great. Good. Reasonable. All citizens? No.
To understand the warning and helpful hints you have to speak Ivrit, Arabic, and Russian. That's it.
Do not take me wrong. I regard it as absolutely correct to inform in Russian too. Brilliant. Every life matters.
However, English-speaking life obviously does not matter.
Many Olims come from Europe (Germany, Italy, France, Spain et al), Latin America, and the USA of course. I know even some Chinese Olims.
The common bracket: Those Olims speak fluently English.
