George's interview with Sky Sports after fp2: : This track is pretty spicy, isn't it? You also had a small spin during FP2. Other than that, how would you sum up today overall? GR: Yeah. I think FP1 was a really strong session for both of us. We looked competitive. But once FP2 got underway, to be honest, McLaren immediately showed incredible pace. My session was also affected a little, but aside from that, their pace looked very strong—both over a single lap and on the long runs. : Red Bull also brought upgrades this weekend, so it's still difficult to judge their true pace. Looking back at FP1 though, what made you feel the car was in a good place for this weekend? GR: I think part of it was that the other teams didn't have very smooth sessions. Almost every time I looked at the timing screens, someone was in the garage with an issue. Lando only came out quite late, Lewis had a few problems, and Max also had some issues. So I think that probably made our FP1 pace look a bit better than it actually was. That said, the car genuinely felt good. But like I mentioned earlier, once FP2 started, McLaren went straight to the top on their first run, which surprised me. Their long-run pace, especially Lando's, looked a bit quicker than ours : Speaking of long runs, looking ahead to the race, do you think it will be a one-stop race? Will tyre management be the key, or is tyre warm-up going to be the bigger challenge? GR: Tyre warm-up definitely won't be the issue—absolutely not. Today the track temperature reached around 60°C, so the tyres were practically being "cooked" out there and under huge stress. Our job is to find the optimal operating window and keep the tyres in the right balance throughout the stint. Even though this circuit only has 11 corners, managing that under these conditions won't be easy.
